Papakupu - Online Dictionaries

"A Dictionary of the Māori Language" (1957 edition), by Herbert William Williams

Perhaps one of the most important Māori-English dictionaries the 7th and final edition being printed in 1971. This dictionary focuses on traditional Māori vocabulary and may contain some words that may be unfamiliar to many native speakers of Māori today. The 1957 edition by Herbert William Williams has been digitised and is now freely available online at the New Zealand Electronic Text Centre.

English-Māori Dictionary, by H.M.Ngata

Is now available online at Learning Media. This excellent resource explains the meaning and how the words are used in different contexts. The Māori-English and English-Māori search capability makes using a dictionary a dream. This site also has other features including "kupu o te rā" including inspiring whakatauki.
